Joel & Kelly's story together began in 1999 when an Indiana boy sat next to a California girl on the first day of Philosophy 101 at Wheaton College, near Chicago. After a few years, they married and moved down to Nashville, Tennessee; Joel attended law school at Vanderbilt and Kelly taught 3rd grade at Eakin Elementary.
In 2003, Indianapolis called, offering proximity to family, opportunity and a simple lifestyle. Joel joined the law firm of Bose McKinney & Evans LLP in the Estate Planning and Business Services practice groups. Kelly volunteered at Agape Therapeutic Riding Center and was soon hired as a therapeutic horseback riding instructor for folks with special needs. Mousse & Truffles, the labradoodles, also moved in and took over the house and the hearts of its inhabitants.
Thorp Law LLC was launched in 2007 when Joel cautiously, but expectantly left "BME" to become Adult Ministries Director at the Church at the Crossing in Indianapolis. To maintain his law practice and supplement their family's modest income, Joel established Thorp Law LLC and put his estate planning experience to work "moonlighting".
Joel & Kelly's first child, Luke Stewart Thorp, was born and died on November 25, 2007. He will always be their little baby boy. Their second child, Camille Faith Thorp, was born on April 24, 2009. She is a true joy, a gift from God.
The recent economic challenges resulted in budget cuts at "CATC" and the elimination of the position filled by Joel. He & Kelly remain a grateful and loved member of the CATC family, but they now depend entirely on Thorp Law LLC to pay the bills.
In 2009, Joel is full time with Thorp Law LLC, and Kelly helps when Camille allows her to do so. It is a new pace of life that offers some challenges, but mostly just newly discovered blessings. The Thorps are grateful for your interest in their family and their law firm and would be pleased to assist you in any way possible.
